EXPLORING THE VITALITY OF DESIGN THROUGH THE INTERWEAVING OF RATIONALITY AND SENSIBILITY – DIALOGUE WITH DESIGNER ZHAO YUN: THE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY BEHIND THE ‘BREAKING’ COLLECTION
During the recently concluded 2025 Shenzhen Furniture Design Week and the 40th Shenzhen International Furniture Exhibition, Mr. Zhao Yun, founder of the home furnishing brand TIWUWORKS, was awarded the dual honors of ‘Designer of the Year’ and ‘Best Lifestyle Design Product’. The award-winning works were the collection of ‘Breaking’, which had previously debuted at the ‘Echoes of the Woods’ sustainable American hardwood contemporary design exhibition.
SAMSON WANG：INTERPRET ONE’S INNER PASSION THROUGH HANDCRAFTING WOOD
Seeking inspiration in the grain and texture of the wood, pouring one’s heart and soul into each saw cut and carving, Samson Wang, a former aircraft structural maintenance technician who has undergone a remarkable transformation, becoming a woodworking artisan. At the recent “Echoes of the Woods” sustainable American hardwood contemporary design exhibition, his creations of the “Elf” deck chair and “Magnolia” side table, along with nine other artists’ works, collectively performed a hymn about nature, life and design.

LV YONG ZHONG: EXPLORING THE HUMANISM OF WOOD BY DESIGN
Lv Yong Zhong, expert of Library of ASC, vice chairman member of the Art Display & Decoration Committee, chairman of Lv YongZhong Associates, founder and chief designer of BANMOO, graduated from Tongji University in 1990 and stayed on as a lecturer for almost 20 years. He has a long-term commitment to architectural interior space and furniture design.

THE BLACK & WHITE BUILDING BY WAUGH THISTLETON ARCHITECTS
At the heart of Shoreditch lies the tallest engineered timber office scheme in London, The Black & White Building. Standing amongst swathes of concrete structures, the wood building acts as a powerful statement with its efficient components and highly sustainable materials. The project pushes the boundaries of timber architecture both internally and externally while providing high-quality spaces for its users.

With the same tireless exploration and pursuit of high-quality and environmentally friendly raw materials, the acquaintance between Jin Xin, the founder of FANAF, an architectural design firm, and MUMO, a wood furniture brand, can be described as “like old friends at the first meeting”. In the new exhibition hall of MUMO Nanjing, Jin Xin created a “wooden” world with a variety of wood including American cherry.
